gift wrapping with fake flowers

Don't you hate it when you have an image of something and it just doesn't pan out? Normally I'd obsess until I was satisfied, but I had a time constraint--a birthday. I'd planned to wrap my friends portable turntable with sunflowers (only $0.99 at Wal-Mart for what you see there) but had forgotten how large the box was.

So I felt it was a little sparse, tried to add some ribbon I had lying around (only had orange, pink, or gold--and gold made it look a bit too 'holiday'). Orange seemed to clash a little but as Tim Gunn would advise, I was just trying to 'make it work.' I also had hemp rope, and thought maybe I could do a whole "natural" spin, but the rope was rather thin and was overwhelmed by the massiveness of the box. I was also unhappy with the placement of the sunflowers (maybe I shouldn't have glue-gunned them on...).

I'm not super-proud, but I think it turned out decent.

Let's start anew...

Well, it's been a while since I posted and I must say that my life's been changing a lot--and this blog'll follow suit. Less material wants (let's face it, with grad school approaching, I'll be learning to live with a lot less in my life) and more materials--to craft with, that is! It's been a long-time passion of mine to "make stuff" so that's what I'll be documenting here. I intend for "stuff" to encompass home decor, gifts, doodles, plush toys, scarves, food...you get the idea!
